Born in Minneapolis, MN, Dr. Henry Halladay developed an early interest in science, managing a paper route, joining Junior Achievement, and graduating as Salutatorian. He attended the University of Chicago on a scholarship for Physics but later transferred to the University of Minnesota for Electrical Engineering, earning a BSEE with Honors (1961), MSEE (1963), and PhD (1967). He was inducted into Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi in 1962. In 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Diana.
In 1967, he moved to Washington to join Boeing, initially researching microwave integrated circuits for phased arrays. Over a 40-year career, he contributed to aircraft, satellites, communication systems, and electromagnetic compatibility, specializing in circuit simulations and system analysis. He also worked extensively with computer languages, networking, and instrumentation control. A key achievement was developing a state-of-the-art Signal Analysis Laboratory.
Dr. Halladay holds four patents, four international publications, and multiple Boeing awards, including Outstanding Performance (1988) and Continuous Quality Improvement (1994). Recognized for his expertise, Boeing named him Associate Technical Fellow (1991), Technical Fellow (1995), and Senior Technical Fellow (1999). He also completed executive training programs in the 2000s and became a Senior Member of IEEE.
His hobbies include gardening, pet care, home automation, video surveillance, 3D printing, and tech innovations. His philosophy: “Always keep learning!”
Dr. Halladay's career at Boeing spanned aircraft and satellite components, communication systems, electromagnetic compatibility, and circuit simulations. Beyond hardware design and implementation, he worked extensively with computer systems, software, and networking. He is proficient in FORTRAN, C, Visual Basic, IEEE 488 instrumentation control, and Ethernet protocols for instrumentation command and control. He also played a key role in developing a state-of-the-art Signal Analysis Laboratory for component, subsystem, and system analysis, verification, and validation.
